Pop Star Charice to Join the Cast!

Speculation about guest stars has been going on for weeks now (John Stamos, Taye Diggs, Daniel Radcliffe, etc.), but here’s an officially confirmed recurring role to be announced for season two! Filipino pop star Charice is said to be joining the cast as “a foreign exchange student whose killer vocals get Rachel (Lea Michele) contemplating murder,” so says Ausiello.
Charice apparently shot down rumors of appearing on Glee via her twitter, but as it turns out, she later auditioned and made it!
Remember those three new characters that we learned about way back when? Could this be that “Eve Harrington-esque” rival for Rachel, who was said to join the cast alongside a male Mercedes and a boyfriend for Kurt? Most likely!
For those of you who have never heard of Charice until now, here’s a brief blurb via her Wikipedia page:
Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (born May 10, 1992), best known as Charice (a portmanteau of her first two names) or Charice Pempengco, is a Filipino international singing sensation who rose to popularity through YouTube. Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the Most Talented Girl in the World, she is the first Asian in history to land in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.

Charice will be an important asset in Glee. Nice move because she is becoming popular by the day not only in the state and canada but in Europe, middleeast, China and Asia. Her talent cannot be denied. Lea Michelle will be having a true competitor when it comes to singing. One thing with Charice, she is way, way better live than recorded.
It will be so awesome to see Charice on GLEE because I love both, great singer and great show. I loved the concept and then loved the show when it was being aired and now… I get to see Charice on it too. And I thought the show could not get any better! Good job GLEE!
Lea Michele is SO super talented!! Love her voice! It would’ve been really hard to find someone with as good a voice as she has!
Excellent choice on Charice though! She’s definitely got the chops to go toe to toe with Rachel! I can’t think of anyone else who can actually give Lea/Rachel a run for her money.

Charice might be a good singer there but in the philippines everyone hates her. Im just saying that there might be a possibility that the people in the philipines might not watch glee the next season. And also i might not continue to watch it too so its you decision….
Charice makes it on Glee is a good sign for all Asian. She beat the barrels where Hollywood should be more packed up with girls who have the heights, with beautiful faces like Taylor Swift even they can´t sing, body like Britney Spears, connections like Miley Cyrus and lots of slutty girls who don´t have any talents at all. She truly represents the ordinary young asian girls who are wishing for their dreams. This talented girl beat all the odds. She just proves to everybody that you don´t need all of those things to have success. Just be natural, be yourself, work hard and love what you have.
@buddah press , where did you get all that lies that everyone hates her in the Phils. and a possibility that nobody will watch Glee the next season. Speak only for yourself Filipino crab. You are not the representative of the 98 million strong Filipinos.
Every rising stars, whoever they are has an extra baggage to carry that can drag them along the way and you are one of the extra baggage.

I personally find it unfair. I dont remember charice pempengco on the myspace audition website. I dont think its fair that big names LIKE CHARICE, got the chance to audition live, while the little guys didnt. I knew something like this would happen. they just did the online auditions to get publicity.
I think it is only fair, if they can’t find anyone in the auditions who can match/equal Lea’s voice then might as well get someone whom the producers think can compete with Lea. And also, it is a recurring role and not a permanent casting. But who knows, she might be asked to become permanent in season3 :D
unfair? I just want the best person for the role. Personally, I think it would be unfair if they cast someone less talented just because they auditioned on myspace. No need to cheat the fans out of a great show. And I can’t say I would be surprised if they didn’t find much to work with in the myspace auditions.

Sorry, but it just annoys me why some people keep on saying that everyone in the Philippines hate her… I mean do you actually know what you’re talking about? Please… Many Filipinos there are actually very ecstatic over the news and can’t wait to see her on the show.. So please, stop with all these stereotyping… All i can say is a lot of my friends are Gleek… It’s a worldwide phenomenon… Lots of the people I know love Charice… she has conquered the world as well… and we’re all just so excited, It’s even hard to breathe just typing this… can’t wait for glee season 2!

On the myspace auditions, myspace is old anyways, most of the talents like Charice, Justin Bieber were discovered ON YOUTUBE. They choose the wrong site or platform into finding artists.

Apparently, your syntax and sentence composition indicates how nuanced your English is and regional in its origin. “English Speaking?” That isn’t a noun dear. Just your standard Filipino colloquialism. “Chills for Embarassment?” Sigh. And “don’t just fit on Glee.” “doesn’t” would be more appropriate and take off the just, will you? You do realize what those red squiggly lines underneath a word are for, right?

Even though im filipino and i should be happy and proud that shes getting to be known around the world…but im just not happy and proud she maybe famous now but how bout the rest of us there might be better filipino singers than her they just chose her it kinda unfair to the others and even better actors you know she hasent even done acting before in her life so i dont think shell be good and buddah press is right and wrong not all of us hate her but maybe 45 percent of filipinos do so im just kind of dissapointed for the people who see her as a great singer well she might be but maybe she needs alot alot of practice they should choos someone who can top lea’s voice she just a minor and cant even act and also bad grammar shes just not that good.

UGGGGGGHHHH! Are you really kidding me?! She can’t sing and her song with Iyaz honestly sucks. First off, no one on Glee has a record deal which makes it more fun for us knowing that they’ll probably get big later on. Second, why did they have to pick her out of all people? Glee is a show about kids (played by unknown actors) who are aspiring singers. I mean honestly, compare the amount of people who have heard of Amber Riley to the amount that have her of Charice. It’s ridiculous. I really hate this decision but I hope I stand corrected when the new season arrives because I would hate for Glee to suck because of her.

sumosams right, u can go all day about how amazing her voice is, but acting ability is another essential part to glee, and I honestly don’t see her being good at acting the comedic elements in glee, just a side note, charice rly needs to stop anymore of other ppls songs, I mean having title songs is like the most important things in having a place in the business

there are so many more singers in the world, with voices as good or even better than her, covered up and never discovered in our world, and u know y? because they dont sing in english or cant make good pronounciations. im asian, no filipino but chinese, and i know for a fact that there are plenty more ppl with better voices than her, but werent exposed to things like youtube, and lets face it, how many of you would click on a video without an english title?
Fans feel hatred, envy and jealousy on Charice are all over the place. Judging Charice because of her looks and height without giving her a chance to prove her talent is unfair. How this people will understand that singing alone is not enough nowadays. She is destined to be great. That´s her luck. She has the “aura and charisma” which can attract international audiences. Her stage presence is impecable aside from her powerful voice. Charice started her career from the bottom and no one even remember it. She works hard to be what she is now. And the most heartbreaking for Charice is her own people who seems discrediting her achievement and putting her down. I assumed this people have very low self-esteemed. It reminds me how much disgrace and insults Lady Gaga suffers before her talent has been recognized. Now she is popular, suddenly everybody loves her. Ironic isn´t it?
yeah what we are saying is that she may be a good singer to you guys but to us it also about acting ability glee is not just about singing its alos about acting you have to be funny dramatic and being able to act she didnt even take acting lessons she can only sing.
a lot of haters… you cant please them all. all i can say is i love charice and with the acting… theres always acting class before the show starts… lets just see what happens at season 2… @charicebad you dont really know how an actress or a great singer starts at the bottom and eventually rise on the top… if your seeing other great singers why not support them instead. why dont they have record deals? keep on asking that yourself…

LOL to all ppl who’s saying many ppl can sing better than her. You are all right, there are many…but out of all…she is the one that SUCCEEDED. If there’s chinese girl who can sing better but can’t speak english that’s her problem…Charice learnt it so why can’t a chinese girl, if that is what it takes to succeed internationally, then many ppl miss the point..no one wants to hear english songs sung in chinese accent.
I just hope she gets her teeth fixed. She is not the best looking girl to begin with, but she needs to get that taken care of.
You can never put a great talent down. If you can’t be happy for what Charice has achieved, better focus on overcoming your self esteem issues.
