Chord Overstreet Joins “Glee” as Sam

The long awaited casting decision for Kurt’s boyfriend, Sam, has finally been revealed. The character which has, in the past, been described as Kurt’s potential boyfriend will be played by Chord Overstreet, who is still fairly new on the acting scene. He’s had a couple guest starring roles in shows such as iCarly and the upcoming No Ordinary Family, but Sam should be his biggest role to date. It’s been announced that he will appear in the season-premiere, and Glee co-producer Dante Di Loreto has confirmed via Twitter that he’ll be in “some early new episodes” of Season 2.
In a recent Comic-Con interview with Michael Ausiello, the cast had a few things to say about the upcoming storyline. “Actually, I’ve heard that they might be leaning towards another storyline which would delay that,” Chris Colfer tells Ausiello. “I’ve heard that it might be provocative, though.” Amber speculated, “He may still find love, but he may not have a boyfriend.” Kevin said, “I want to see a boyfriend, though,” which the rest of the cast collectively agreed with. “I think we all do,” Jenna added.
We didn’t know too much about Sam before, but we did know that he’s supposed to be an openly gay football player at McKinley who eventually becomes Kurt’s love interest in the show. Fox’s latest press release has added that he starts off as a sort of protégé to Finn, but eventually becomes his competition. Could this be the storyline which causes the delay for the character’s budding romance with Kurt? Possibly.
To find out more about Chord, visit his IMDB page, check out his MySpace (with a song likely sung by his father), or catch him in the online web series, Private.

Entertainment industry really need this kind of casts! Fresh new faces who will break big into the silver screen!
September still looooooong enough to me
(-_-” my college starts at September too dammit)
I really hope they don’t end up going back on Sam being Kurt’s boyfriend- everyone’s so excited about it, and it would be a huge dissapointment to Glee fans. But I do like that they’re making his character have some sort of rivalry with Finn, and be more than just Kurt’s love interest. Also, this wasn’t mentioned in the article, but I thought I should bring it to anyone’s attention who’s interested… If you search on google, you can find Sam’s myspace page, where he has a recording of himself singing a country song called “Death Row.” He has an INCREDIBLE voice- it’s shockingly deep and mature. It almost sounds like a 40 year old man (haha), and rivals Johnny Cash in maturity and depth.
The song ‘Death Row’, I think, is actually someone else singing it. I’m pretty sure his dad, Paul Overstreet. It even says ‘paul vocal’ on it.
So I’m happy Chord and Charice both got jobs on glee. I mean good for them, but both of these people have somewhat of a career already.
What happened to them finding more Chris Colfer’s? You know people who haven’t done anything before. I’m just wondering bc the way it’s looking the last role is probably going to be filled by a semi-unknown.
Again I don’t doubt they deserve it (charice has killer vocals), but I’m just not too excited about them
This guy is really cute, he’s straight right?
Anyway, the new cast already have budding careers, they should go back to casting nobodies like Chris colfer.
i dont want kurt to have a boyfriend… it is a whole lot better when he dreams about being finns boyfriend.
This sucks, Kurt needs a boyfriend, and the cast clearly agrees. Why postpone the inevitable for YET ANOTHER Finn plot that will drag on forever? We need more supporting character plots, all my favourites are in the background most of the time, so it’s time they got the spotlight a little more. As much as I like Finn, I’m getting kind of sick of him having a plot every episode and Mercedes not having had one single boyfriend. I digress…
I agree with Qwerty 100%.. I’m sick of great characters like Artie, Mercedes and Kurt (although he definitely has more screen time now) getting pushed to the background..
and Chord’s a cutie, so I hope he really is Kurt’s new boyfriend (I’d love to see them together)
p.s. who cares if chord’s gay or straight? he’s an actor, isnt he?.. and it’s no like any of us here (men or women) stand a chance
